Right - I finally decided to buy Steel Dragon EX, which is currently a tenner in ASDA. It contains the original Steel Dragon (arcade machine - circa 97?) which is excellent - though relies on the D-Pad, which I have trouble with. It's a good, solid shooter, and I enjoyed it - has a real arcade feel.

The EX remix is also very good. Very, very like Ikaruga in design/asthetics terms, but probably not as sophisticated (or difficult). There's an interesting mechanic with a selection of fire modes, each with benefits and disadvantages.

Both versions feature 2 player.

For a tenner, if you're a shmup fan I'd recommend it.

Oh yes, and to confirm DOA:Ultimate, Scrapland, Flatout and Street Fighter 3: Aniversary Edition can be bought in the 2 for 30 3 for 40 pound promo at Virgin on Xbox.

Not done it myself, but it all works out at 13 quid a game, and you could probably sell any you didn't want on eBay for more if you left them sealed and picked a free list day...

Good price. Good game.

PC World - if you can find a copy - are selling it at 9.99 though. In store. Bargain-a-licious.

It is "merely excellent" of course...

http://www.dvd.co.uk/product.asp?id=HALFLIFECDPC

But you can't argue with 17.99 for Half Life 2.

MGS3 is 17.99 delivered at play.com

Not bad - Gradius V for 9.99 and Viewtiful Joe 6.99.

Forbidden Siren is worth 9.99 - just turn the sound down during any voice acting.

Hello bargain fans:

Project Zero Xbox - 5 pounds (GAME)
Gregory Horror Show PS2 - 5 pounds (GAME)
That Xbox Tour De France game you always wanted but never wanted to pay more than 5 pounds for - 5 pounds! (GAME)
Unreal 2: Liandri Conflict (XB) - 19.99 (Virgin In store)
Project Rub - 11.97 (Amazon) - and in fact you might've missed the incredible sale there which had some silly prices for good games (15 pounds for Half Life 2 Limited Edition for example).

More bargains:

Pro Evo 4 (Xbox) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...3235143-3663801

£6.96! Explains the sudden flood onto eBay then....
Not really any excuse not to own Pro Evo 4 on the Xbox now is there... see you on live 4M3....

Cold Fear (Xbox/PS2) - £8.96

A decent game, just about soothes the pain once you've finished Resi Evil 4, was never worth 40 quid - but 9 pounds? Yes please. Nice weather effects.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...3235143-3663801

Half Life 2 (PC DVD) - 12.96 - nuff sed. Best price I've seen, and because of Steam you never, of course, see it second hand. Buy now, or wait for the Xbox version. You all know of my love for it - but after being slandered in print, I'll play the damn thing from start to finish and give you my thoughts.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...3235143-3663801

Also, Ghost Recon 2 for PS2 is less than 6 quid at amazon. It's got panned, and isn't anywhere near as good as the Xbox version, but I thought it was still a decent enough game, especially for that price.

Oh yes, and MGS3 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...3235143-3663801

13.96. Not too shabby. If you're in to that sort of thing.

KOTOR 2 for £14.96 (where do they get these prices from?  96?)

not as good as the first one, but still an excellent title, and surely the most intelligent use of moral ambiguity ever seen in gaming.   B)

link here

also, outrun 2 for £7.96.  excellent game for a frankly unbelievable price.

linky here

for the PC gamer, the bloody excellent Vampire: Bloodlines for a keeerrrrr-azy £11.97

linky linky

and the greatest game of all time (tie fighter) plus 2 for £9.97

linkety link

thug 2 for £7.96

blink

quite tempted by this - the bards tale for £9.96

link to the past.  well, not really the past, just a web page, actually.

look at the list of features on the bard's tale -

    *  50% more funny
    * Uses more pixels than ever before
    * Spins the DVD at over 10,000 RPM!
    * Over $500 in value
    * Graphics so amazing you'll need a screen!

there ya go!
