Just had a quick stab at it. It's pretty much as expected. Lots of crazy clothes, typical FF graphics, gameplay that kinda feels like FFXII without a party, and lots of monsters to kill. Again and again and again. Kinda enjoying it.

Yeah, mine took bloody ages. Playing it again right now. It reminds me of the early days of WAR. In fact, it reminds me of almost every MMORPG I've ever played...

How do you get onto the PS3 beta?

Wev- I got an email inviting me after registering on the SE site ages ago.  Not sure if they're still taking registrations or not though.

As for the game, I'm thoroughly enjoying it after a couple of hours of messing about.  The best bits mechanically of XI and Wow combined so far.  It feels (and looks and, perhaps most importantly, sounds) absolutely Final Fantasy too - for me that's a very good thing as I love the world and the tropes.  Obviously ymmv.  I hope the quests/progression/jobs live up to this early promise as it progesses.

I'm Quin Quennial on Shiva for anyone else who gets on to this - we should get a linkshell going.

I spotted the Beta advert on the PS3 about a week ago and fired an application over. I received the codes a couple of days ago.

And, yes, linkshell (or whatever that is), good idea. I probably won't be playing today, though. I have social things to do, and house things to sort (my house is so close to being finished).

You may be able to pick up a key there. You need to register on the site. You'll also need to register a Square Enix acct.

I downloaded and spent an hour in the game last night. By the time it actually decided to let me control my character I was too tired and switched off. :-\

A linkshell is the same as a guild in WoW, essentially.

Okay - three web browsers later, the CVG thing finally coughed up a key, and I think I've got everything registered.

Got a key and downloaded the PS3 client, but I'm too busy bringing loopers in Skies of Arcadia to actually start it up yet. Will try to get through character creation tonight though - what server is best?
