In between being sad and lonely I've noticed I'm having problems in Chrome on the quick reply option - quite often it seems to submit my response, but then endlessly seems to be reloading the page I've submitted to.

I've also noticed a spate of double posts, which may be related?

I've had a similar problem (using the regular reply function in IE) for a while, though if I close the browser and come back my post has generally registered.

I've been experiencing this in Firefox too, so I don't think its browser related, or dependent upon which reply box is used.

But OK in Chromium.  How odd.

Okay, everything seems to be fine as far as the server itself is concerned, however, there has been a massive uptick in spambot registrations. As in over a hundred a day. the double posting could be because of the spambots relentlessly rattling the doors, so to speak.

I guess I need to come up with a new system that prevents them from even attempting to register.

Alrighty -- the Spambot stopper seems to be the most direct way to cut them off at the knees.  Hopefully humans and other creatures of higher intelligence understand what I did.

Oh-tay..

I changed the way registration itself works, and have removed the user/pass kludge from all users. Hopefully the Spambots are slowed down by it.

However, tests have shown that the User/pass system is a good solution, I would rather have a transparent one.

I'm finding that in IE I hit post and it hangs, but if i then navigate away, then back to the thread, my post has been made, but the board doesnt move you back to the thread. Don't know if that helps.

Maybe thats whats causing the double posts - or at least related. As for the SPAMbots, the changes I made are holding - not a single new bot registration since the changes I had made.

I have tried to cause double posting and/or delayed page refresh issue to occur and have failed to do so (typical, isn't it ?). If these problems persist let me know where and when so I can try to find out where the problem lies. Also, approximately how many days ago did this issue start ?

Hopefully, it turns out the issue is solved, now that I have beefed up my SPAMBot deterrent protocols. These changes have made it difficult for an automated registrant to successfully create an account, while keeping the process simple enough for any living entity.

BTW, There has not been one single bot registrant in better than 12 hours. Normally, I would have dozens by now. Not that they aren't trying, mind you.
