The new posts thing is an ancient unresolved bug. The are two ways to cure it, the easiest being using the 'mark all posts as read' button. The second way is to wait it out.

Wierder is that the fornt page says there's a post in here by prole at 11.14, but the  newest post I can see is by Jdub at 10.42.

And now it's appeared. Curiouser and Curiouser

Yep, I've had problems with the new posts thing. It's almost as if my laptop is just taking me back to the old page thought because it doesn't show newer posts either. A few refreshes and it eventually does work.

I also had a problem earlier where the frontpage said there was a new post in a thread but when I went it it didn't load an up to date page and I could only see up to the previous post.

I think the servers need a re-boot up the ass!

My browser seems to be holding onto its caching very tightly now; I've got to manually refresh non-thread pages to see the updates.

Still happening here. Whats odd is that the forum itself is loading incredibly quick, quicker than I ever remember it doing so but its taking an age for new posts to go live.

Oh scrap that, its gotten even wierder.

It changes from me posting to the thread fine now, but my post doesn't appear unless I refresh...

I'm having to force a refresh on every page now and I'm still getting it hanging every now and then.

Well --

The server is running perfectly, with less load than ever.
MySQL is running perfectly, absolutely nothing logged indicating any trouble at all.
Apache is running perfectly, nothing unusual logged at all.
No relevant software has been recently upgraded.

I'm starting to think this may be the universe's way of telling me its time to either upgrade or crossgrade the forum software.

I think I found the 'time warp' problem.. I was allowing browsers to cache stuff that they shouldn't.

Sadly the original problem still exists. :(

Woah - and I just got the time warp for the first time too.

If we do refresh the forum, can we get a post voting system like rllmuk? It's worked really well, and everyone is happy with it.

I assume that is a suggestion made in jest; no sane person could want to copy any system used in that hellhole of degeneracy.

(That said, their mobile skin is a thing of beauty - though I assume it's linked to the version of the board software they are using, rather than anything they've actually put into place themselves.  Would love to see it on the Soc though).
