in horrible danger of dragging this back on topic I know, but it seems to be the more generic &D that doesn't display properly

not the whole post though, just the sentence with it in

hmm... that could be confusing

Could be the &D (ampersand - D ) is a shortcut for an emoticon on that thing?  Sounds a bit odd.

Anyway, I don't know about you all, but I'm using a normal Internet browser in a real OS and everything works just fiCATASTROPHIC SYSTEM ERROR #64738 ABORT ABORT ABORT

tapatalk? tried it, works fine.... mostly only useful for a Phone, on a tablet, you have more than enough screen room to just use the society as it should be (or any other forum for that matter).

Another Tapatalk test.

Paragraph A displays correctly.

Paragraph B

does not display correctly
because there is a line break in the bold tabs.

Paragraph C displays correctly.

I don't understand why any of you are still struggling with that awful piece of software. Is it an iPhone thing, are iPhone browsers shit?

It's faster and easier than trying to use the desktop skin on mobile/tablet, and I hate the mobile browser skin.

On Tapatalk? Are you on Android? See my Twitter feed for how it looks on iOS.

I still like Tapatalk a lot but they are hopeless at fixing bugs. They seem to prefer to tinker endlessly with the UI instead.

Yeah, I'm on Android. Is the tablet version different, too?

Checking my iPad now and all I can see of Paragraph B is… well, Paragraph B. The second line about it not displaying properly has completely vanished BUT there's a space that indicates there should be something there.

As for why we're struggling with it, Bri, I think Ninchilla nailed it. On mobile, using a web browser for forum stuff is a real pig - plus, as much as it has faults, Tapatalk is far faster to use. I don't have use of a desktop in the evenings or at weekends, so it's either that or I just don't use the forum at those times at all.

It's fine for me on Nexus 7:
(click to show/hide)

EDIT: Just checked on my phone (Galaxy S II), and it's fine there, too; must be an iOS version issue?

Might explain why it hasn't been picked up before, I guess.  The principal development on Tapatalk does seem to be carried out on Android with the iOS versions being developed separately, at least that's the impression I've got.

More Tapatalk fun - bits of topics and posts are still missing, even when bold lettering isn't involved. For me, everything in the Play October thread between Luscan saying Thief is shit and Prole talking about Destiny isn't there. And in the PS+ thread, in my own post about the games on offer, the para about D&D is totally missing.

Gah. Don't say it, Bri. DON'T SAY IT.

One of those might be a problem with ampersands.  That cropped up a couple of years ago, they fixed it but might have regressed it.

Here's a test.

This is paragraph 1.

This A&B is paragraph 2.

A&B this is paragraph 3.

This is paragraph 4.

Hmmm, no, that works OK.

This is paragraph 5.

D&D this is paragraph 6.

This D&D is paragraph 7.

This is paragraph 8.
