Molyneux - Fable 3 announcement this week will piss you off.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/you-will...able-iii-reveal

QUOTE
Peter Molyneux has said to expect more details on Fable III at this week's X10 event in San Francisco, and warned that people are going to be "super pissed off".

"We're making some announcements about Fable III and there's some... Wow, there's some very, very big things happening in Fable. Bigger than you think. And it's going to really upset people,"

Place your bets. I'm going to guess it requires Natal, or even uses it exclusively.

Does it matter? It's Molyneux. Whatever he claims probably won't happen.

'Molyneux's just being a hyperbolic wanker' is also a bet. tongue.gif And probably a safe one, to be fair.

But when his 'exciting' announcements piss people off, imagine how annoyed everyone's going to be at one that's designed to piss you off!

I never played Fable or Fable II and now that I think about it, I don't think I care. Peter will have a hard time making me care enough to get pissed off.

I've tried to play them both and couldn't get more than half an hour into them. Horrible games.

If you are inclined to try them, Fable II was release in episodic format on Xbox Live and the first episode is free. So you can try the first hour or two for nothing. Let me know if you beat my score of 30 minutes.

Fable II is a beguiling, entrancing experience in spite of the limitations that the hardware and release schedule placed on its ambition. It's touching and, in a lot of ways, ground breaking gaming.

Pretty much this. Except I learnt my lesson with the first and never tried the second.

In short - Fable's already pissed me off, so I was never going to play this anyway. In fact, the best chance of Fable 3 pissing me off is for there to be some kind of contractual obligation that means I actually have to play it. Yeah, that'd do it.

I did think you lot all liked them though. Or was that just Swallow and/or maybe MPH?

I'd say Fable 1 and 2 are both worth a play. The first hour of both are essentially linear tutorials that show off the worst bits of the game. Writing Fable 2 off after 30 minutes is a bit silly, and the sort of thing I'd do.

Certainly they aren't stellar, but I think as a man who likes a story based romp with a bit of RPG dusting you'd probably find them fairly entertaining Brian.

Not even if I still had a 360.

You know, if I'm being honest.

I'm quite enjoying this, actually, as it's reminded me that, while my irrational dislike of Zelda is probably still just that, my hatred of Fable is maybe a bit more justified.

Write it off after 45 minutes becuase the tutorial sequence is the best bit.

I think my main gripe is while the game has ambition, how it attempts to realise that is so mechanically obvious that it never feels immersive. It wears the numeric underpinnings of the game a little too proudly and suffers for it. I also think the story is largely forgettable, which is a shame considering it had two or three moments where it really had a chance to shine. It feels a little rushed, a little (lottle) buggy and a little incomplete. But it is still very attractive, breezy and fun to play and contains quite a few interesting ideas. It's also very British, and while most British people seem to hate the Pratchettesque over the top voicework I thought it was charming.

Yep, I loved both games. I assume I'll be amongst the pissed off group when/if they announce Natal integration for the third game.

It certainly is the sort of thing I like but I have seen enough of LegoMatt playing it to know that I don't like them.

See I agree with this. I really thought I'd like it, it seemed like my sort of thing for the first hour, but I lost interest pretty quickly once I grew up (apart from the dog, which was ace). The interacting with people and buying houses etc was dull. The humour was ok in a sub adam and joe kind of way, but grated after a bit. The quests again were ok, but not enough to keep me interested let alone immersed. Disappointing/10, and no intention of getting the next one.

I liked both Fable games enough to complete them, but not enough to ever go back for a repeat play-though or even to tidy up achievements in the second.

I'll be interested to see what Molyneux's announcement is - I'm not expecting much though, considering all his previous talk about the emotional reactions we'll have to the games has amounted to nothing more than hyperbolic windbaggery.

It doesn't have a health bar.

That was the announcement.

Read his quote again.

They've got rid of the health bar. That's what he's talking about in that quote.

He doesn't make life easy for himself, does he?
