In preparation for launching myself into the realm of Cubist gaming, I bought Cube magazine. Fantastically, it was giving away a free memory card if bought at WHSmiths - so that's another fiver saved. Woo-hoo!

Dixons have a sale on - Shenmue 2 and DOA:BV at 7.97 each. This can be slightly bettered by buying them in the Blockbuster 3 preowned for 22 quid sale, that includes the self same titles (plus other fairly decent ones).

Remember me saying that I'd only have one home console in the house...

Well, I couldn't pass this up.  What with the talk of Resi 4 and the price of this I've cracked.  I'll be picking mine up later today.

BTW - price was £59.99, but still - bargain!
*

Yeah - just realised.... there was a cut-out voucher that you needed to achieve the £49.99 in the ad that I saw

Now get down game with some rubbish games and swap them plus 99p for Resident Evil!! biggrin.gif

Even with postage...

One of the best GBA Games available...

Rumours abound that the gameplay easter sale will also have some startling bargains. Promo literature features Killzone, so there's always hope it'll be in there at a tenner or something... Starts 9am 25th.

HMV also have an in store sale, rumours of Resi Evil games (from 2 up till pre-4) onwards at 5.99 a pop. In store, unconfirmed.

Oh yes! This will be mine.

Actually, I'm really excited about this GC lark. Just going through the directory at the back of Cube showed me how many decent games I've yet to play - and the best thing is that an awful lot of them are going to be available pre-owned and / or dirt cheap. Marvellous!

I've been feeling a bit under the weather recently, so I didn't spend much time on it yesterday. Donkey Konga is obviously a game for mentalists... but is going to be wicked fun with a few friends and drinks. Sonic Heroes is distinctly average, but that doesn't mean that it's necessarily bad and it's quite compelling in it's own bizarre way. If you're me, that is.

Be very careful with Donkey Konga..... especially on alcohol/any other substance..... When I play it, I concentrate so hard that I get into this "zone" where nothing but a few centimetres of screen where the notes pass by are visible to me..... everything else goes blurry and my eyes lock-on and will not move!!!

After so long of this zone, it makes everything else you look at "pulsate"... the only thing I can liken it to is if you've ever watched a black/white spiral shape spinning for a while - it makes your eyesight go really strange and when you look back at your skin, it looks like it's crawling! ohmy.gif

Does anyone have the faintest clue what I mean here? huh.gif tongue.gif

Yes. I've posted once on here already, but a good session on Gridrunner++, followed immediately by working in Excel does odd things to your brain.

Right - I finally decided to buy Steel Dragon EX, which is currently a tenner in ASDA. It contains the original Steel Dragon (arcade machine - circa 97?) which is excellent - though relies on the D-Pad, which I have trouble with. It's a good, solid shooter, and I enjoyed it - has a real arcade feel.

The EX remix is also very good. Very, very like Ikaruga in design/asthetics terms, but probably not as sophisticated (or difficult). There's an interesting mechanic with a selection of fire modes, each with benefits and disadvantages.

Both versions feature 2 player.

For a tenner, if you're a shmup fan I'd recommend it.

Oh yes, and to confirm DOA:Ultimate, Scrapland, Flatout and Street Fighter 3: Aniversary Edition can be bought in the 2 for 30 3 for 40 pound promo at Virgin on Xbox.

Not done it myself, but it all works out at 13 quid a game, and you could probably sell any you didn't want on eBay for more if you left them sealed and picked a free list day...

It is "merely excellent" of course...

http://www.dvd.co.uk/product.asp?id=HALFLIFECDPC

But you can't argue with 17.99 for Half Life 2.

Hello bargain fans:

Project Zero Xbox - 5 pounds (GAME)
Gregory Horror Show PS2 - 5 pounds (GAME)
That Xbox Tour De France game you always wanted but never wanted to pay more than 5 pounds for - 5 pounds! (GAME)
Unreal 2: Liandri Conflict (XB) - 19.99 (Virgin In store)
Project Rub - 11.97 (Amazon) - and in fact you might've missed the incredible sale there which had some silly prices for good games (15 pounds for Half Life 2 Limited Edition for example).

More bargains:

Pro Evo 4 (Xbox) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...3235143-3663801

£6.96! Explains the sudden flood onto eBay then....
Not really any excuse not to own Pro Evo 4 on the Xbox now is there... see you on live 4M3....

Cold Fear (Xbox/PS2) - £8.96

A decent game, just about soothes the pain once you've finished Resi Evil 4, was never worth 40 quid - but 9 pounds? Yes please. Nice weather effects.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...3235143-3663801

Half Life 2 (PC DVD) - 12.96 - nuff sed. Best price I've seen, and because of Steam you never, of course, see it second hand. Buy now, or wait for the Xbox version. You all know of my love for it - but after being slandered in print, I'll play the damn thing from start to finish and give you my thoughts.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...3235143-3663801

Also, Ghost Recon 2 for PS2 is less than 6 quid at amazon. It's got panned, and isn't anywhere near as good as the Xbox version, but I thought it was still a decent enough game, especially for that price.
