Well. That certainly puts And into perspective.

It speaks volumes about your opinion of And that literally the nicest thing you can bring yourself to say about him is that he's not quite as bad as a Jew-hating Nazi-loving racist scumbag troll.

Well that's defiantly one way to interpret the statement. Not the way it was intended but cheers for the effort.

Silly question:

what happened to the idea of moving forums? We teased with it here and again later when we lost all the users but when it got restored, it was pretty much forgotten.

My issue is basically that this forum software is ancient and from what I've read, has so many unpatched security flaws in it that I'm surprised it's not been torn apart by the ravenous hacker wolves of the internet.

Thoughts, miskie? It's your baby, or I'd have changed it long ago smile.gif

Indeed - it is quite unpatched - the only reason it hasn't been hax0r3d to death is because I patched the server itself- every query on every site is strung through a parser and will return an error for anything it doesn't like. Ive added a special set of checks for Invisionboard as well as other older exploitable software. The server also upgrades itself in the background to latest versions of most of the software that runs it (php, mysql, apache, etc.) Since these and other changes made, all hostees have experienced a fairly prolonged period of peace, as well as continual uptime.

And that peace has allowed me to slide upgrading The Sock to the back burner, which I really shouldn't have.

I'm also just a finicky bastard - every solution Ive looked at, I have discarded for one reason or the other.

Lockdowns and checks can only get you so far. Insecure software is a ticking timebomb! smile.gif

Srsly though, like I said, it's your baby, so if you want to keep it as-is, I don't blame ya. I really think we could get another free/opensource board working fine, given that we'd have to get it up to speed with what you've done with this one (i.e. just a little time).

But if it ain't (too terribly) broke, don't fix it works for me if it works for you.
